Remember that the High Performance Centre was opened to meet the athletes&#8217; needs with a view to performing well at the Barcelona Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Bach then visited the Olympic Museum, accompanied by Mar&iacute;a Teresa Samaranch, patron of the Barcelona Olympics Foundation; Pere Mir&oacute;, deputy director general of the International Olympic Committee (IOC); Alejandro Blanco, president of the Spanish Olympic Committee; Gerard Figueras, General Secretary for Sports in Catalonia; David Escud&eacute;, sports commissioner for Barcelona City Council; and Juan Antonio Samaranch, among others.
