\nThe Olympic and Sports Museum Joan Antoni Samaranch is now home to a unique symbol in international cycling history: the Grand D\u00e9part Trophy of the Tour de France. This symbolic trophy marks the transition between cities, officially recognizing the next Grand D\u00e9part host. Barcelona, as host city of the 2026 edition, takes over from the previous French host city.
\nThe arrival of the trophy to the Olympic Museum in Barcelona was made official in a ceremony attended by David Escud\u00e9, Sports Councillor; Alejandro Blanco, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee; Susana Closa, Manager of Barcelona Sports Institute; Francesc Terr\u00f3n, Director of the Olympic Museum; and Joan Torrella, from the Executive Directorate for Major Events Coordination at Barcelona City Council.<\/p>\n
This prestigious trophy, with great international visibility, is presented on the podium in Paris at the end of the Tour and represents the commitment and responsibility undertaken by the next host city. The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, received it officially during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Tour de France, in a symbolic act that marks the countdown to 2026.
