Barcelona collector dealer Josep Maria Domingo Pérez, who recently passed away, stated in his will that his legacy of Olympic medals and coins should be preserved in a conservation fund. Fulfilling his wishes, his heirs —Ms. M. Rosa Domingo Cárceles, Ms. Montserrat Domingo Cárceles, Mr. Francisco de Asís Pérez Fornells, and Ms. M. Soledad Dasca Ricart— have donated the collection to the Olympic and Sports Museum Joan Antoni Samaranch.
The legacy includes:
- Collection of 15 commemorative coins from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, minted by the Royal Canadian Mint.
- Collection of 10 coins from the 7th Ibero-American Series “Ibero-American Countries and the Olympic Sports”, numbered 00613.
- Collection of 4 commemorative coins from the London 2012 Olympic Games, minted by The Royal Mint.
- Commemorative coin from the 2006 Basketball World Championship, held in Japan, minted by La Casa de la Moneda – Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre.
- Collection of 2 commemorative medals from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, minted by the Royal Canadian Mint.
- Collection of 2 commemorative medals from the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, also minted by the Royal Canadian Mint.
The Olympic Museum sincerely thanks the donors for this generous contribution, which helps preserve and promote Olympic heritage.
