David Escudé, President of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, officiated at the ceremony. Also present were Maria Teresa Samaranch, member of the Board of Trustees of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, Conrado Durántez, President of the Spanish Olympic Academy, Javier Cuesta, President of Correos (the Spanish postal service), Mario Garcés, Undersecretary for Development, Emilio Ablanedo, Government Sub-Delegate in Barcelona, and Juli Pernas, Director of the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sports Museum.
