The Ciutat de Barcelona Women’s Water Polo Trophy Presented at the Olympic Museum

The Olympic and Sports Museum Joan Antoni Samaranch hosted the official presentation of the Ciutat de Barcelona International Women’s Water Polo Trophy. The match will feature the Olympic gold medalist Spanish national team against a renewed Italian squad, in a high-level contest ahead of the World Championships in Singapore.

National team coaches Jordi Valls (Spain) and Carlo Silipo (Italy), as well as captains Anni Espar and Agnese Cocchiere, took part in the event, offering their insights. Institutional representatives such as Susanna Closa, director of Institut Barcelona Esports, and Pere Robert, vice president of the Catalan Swimming Federation, also spoke during the presentation.

“These international trophies aim to link Barcelona’s global outlook with sports that have evolved from being new to fully established,” stated Susanna Closa. Pere Robert emphasized the strong cooperation among organizations and encouraged fans to attend: “It will be one of the few times the national team plays at home.”

The event is organized by the Barcelona City Council, the Institut Barcelona Esports, and the Catalan Swimming Federation, with the support of the Club Natació Barcelona, Turbo, and the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation.
