Juli Pernas, director of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, presented a brief summary of J.A. Samaranch’s role as sports governor. He spoke of Samaranch’s drive and interest in launching Barcelona as a pioneering city in sport by hosting major sporting events such as the 1955 Mediterranean Games.

After the speech, Joan Manuel Surroca moderated a roundtable attended by David Moner, Honourable president of the UFEC and friend of Samaranch, and sportsmen Tomás Barris and Jordi Bonareu, who participated in the 1955 Mediterranean Games.
