Centenary Club: Futbol Club Martinenc

From 30/04/2019 to 23/06/2019
The temporary Exhibition Hall

Barcelona has witnessed the founding of many different sports clubs in the time since regulated sports became a leisure activity. Many of these clubs are still in operation today. They are organisations that promote the practice of a range of sports at all levels at their facilities.

The temporary Exhibition Hall at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sports Museum hosts a photographic exhibition by Futbol Club Martinenc, displaying historical images of this hundred-year-old Barcelona sports club.

Considered to be one of Barcelona’s historic football club, Futbol Club Martinenc was founded in 1909. Its name comes from the merger of two organisations from the old town of Sant Martí de Provençals, home of the founding headquarters of Martinense Football Club and Martinenc Sports Centre.

The Barcelona Olympic Foundation wishes to pay tribute to all the clubs and organisations that facilitate sporting activity in the city. For this reason a programme of events has been prepared to include an annual monograph exhibition highlighting one of the city’s centenary sports clubs.
