The Fundació Barcelona Olímpica (FBO), in collaboration with the Biblioteca Bon Pastor – Josefina Castellví and the Centre d’Estudis – Arxiu Vilabesòs Baró de Viver – Bon Pastor, will present on 6 May the book «Espais esportius que han fet història a Barcelona» (Sporting Spaces that Made History in Barcelona) — a landmark publication that reclaims the historical memory of the sporting venues that have shaped Barcelona’s sporting identity.
Written by authors Joan Manuel Surroca, Juli Pernas, Luís Sánchez, Pedro Hernández and Raül Vázquez, the book takes readers on a unique journey through time, uncovering more than 130 sites linked to sporting activity — including gymnasiums, sports halls, aquatic facilities and urban spaces — from the late 19th century to the present day.
The publication was developed through the Centre d’Estudis Olímpics Joan Antoni Samaranch, managed by the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica, affirming its commitment to research and the dissemination of knowledge about the history of sport.
The book «Espais esportius que han fet història a Barcelona» is now available at the Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport de Barcelona for €15.
