‘Wings for Life World Run’, a different kind of run for those who love challenges with a charity purpose and some exceptional ambassadors: Nani Roma, Josef Ajram, Chema Martínez and Victor Tasende.

Xavier Amador, City of Barcelona Director of Institutional Relations for Sports, and Gerard Figueres, Director General for Sports for the Generalitat, were responsible for welcoming Anita Gerhardter, CEO of the Wings for Life Foundation and their charity project.

“Wings for Life” is a non-profit foundation, the main objective of which is to research a cure for spinal cord injuries. And in order to do so, it has created a different kind of worldwide run. The run will be simultaneously started on 4 May in 35 countries and 37 internationally renowned cities like Barcelona. A run aimed at “running for those who can’t” (the motto of the run) and the profits of which will completely be used for research into spinal cord injuries. Pilot Nani Roma (@NaniRoma), ultraman Josef Ajram (@Josefajram), athlete Chema Martínez (@chemitamartinez) and Victor Tasende (@VictorTasende), who after suffering an accident at age 17 confining him to a wheelchair, has achieved what many only dream of: he has returned to a normal life, enjoying his passion – sports – and has finished a Titan Desert which was completely unthinkable just a few years ago.As they laughed and joked, the athletes highlighted the challenge of the run as they will run so they don’t get caught by the pick up car. Montjuïc will be the starting line for the 5000 registered runners (the limit registration considering the complexity of the run) and the route will run all along the coast towards Tarragona. Thirty minutes after the start, a car will drive at a constant speed of 15 km/h to eliminate any runners it catches up with. The car will gradually increase its speed until the last runner remains, the last runner in all 37 cities around the world – it’s a different kind of test for those who love sports challenges.
